The Yogi’s Symphony

The yogi speaks the Sanskrit words
And guides the souls within us
To move in time and space
from one form to another

Her tone and meter rise and fall
as she moves around the space
Her students mirror each pose she paints
and the rhythm of our movements
match our teachers’cadence

We breathe and rise and fold
And chant the sacred words
We vibrate in sympathy
Our souls the strings of her symphony
Our bodies as one
aligned by her choreography

She leads the yogis on the circled mats
On a journey begun a thousand years ago
And though the souls encased in stardust
have only traveled a few feet from front to back
Up and down to twist and turn and float in space

When we rise from our final resting place
We have traveled light years
from the jumbled mind and breathless space
we left behind before we shared this sacred grace.

    1. Jessica, writing is so important in helping me to explore and understand how I feel. Otherwise I find it to be just a jumble of ideas and feelings.

    2. I hope your submerging yourself in your kids this holiday. I am remembering all of the wonderful times my bride and I had together.
