To the maker of stars and the stardust from which we are all formed,
Who bent down from the heavens, and with the sweetest kiss,
And the best intentions, blew life into our souls,
I kneel and bow, with heartfelt gratitude,
For all the blessings you have bestowed upon me.
It began with the tender care, I received at the nurturing hands,
of my mother’s mother and the wisdom imparted,
at the summit of mountains by my short-lived father.
But If I hadn’t known pain and suffering loss and loneliness
I wouldn’t have appreciated, the joy nor extasy,
of two hearts beating as one of two souls inextricably linked together
of a love so complete that I am still reeling from its absence.
I look all around me and am breathless,
In the realization that there are very few of us
who you have chosen to bind so deeply,
one to another.
So, I bow and as the tears fall, upon my prayer shaped hands,
I thank you for your generosity and swear to never take your gifts for granted.
