A Study in Loving Kindness

By day, you lead your yogis in breath-led twists and poses

By night, you have us reading star maps,

To navigate the journey that’s before us.

A journey we are destined for but none of us has mastered,

We are humbled when we see each other stumble,

And quick to help each other rise to walk the path again.

As fellow travelers do, we bare and share our souls,

Confess our heart’s desire, we weep about our hopes and fears,

And the personhood we aspire,

You hold space for us and guide us to dig deeper,

in such a loving way that we cannot deny you

Together, we are learning the art of a true seeker

We are better for your company,

this patch quilt of a family,

That, over time, has formed around you.

With hands at hearts, we bow our heads in prayer,

And thank the mysteries of the universe,

That you have wrapped us in your karma

To learn to shed our sorrows

And to share the loving kindness of this Sangha.

Namaste

  1. If I remember correctly, you were already doing yoga in HS!

I’m planning to move from Albuquerque (moved here on retirement for inlaws) to a cohousing building right outside Sacramento. While not directly aimed at an older crowd, it may function like the place your mother ended up as u described it some years back. Sort of halfway between a coop and a commune.

And I am truly sorry to learn about Norma.
