Love rushes through me like a waterfall
for my bride of fifty years.
Tears appear from nowhere
when I see her form in silhouette
or wander past places we sat knee to knee
in the first blush of love—
arms across the table, fingers touching,
staring into each other’s eyes.
Now, listeners to my story—
friends and strangers alike—
often say auwwwww
when I describe
the roller coaster of our time together,
my undying love for her,
and sadness for her passing.
